1. Central Government on Sunday has extended the lockdown period nationwide up to 31st May while giving considerable flexibility to the states in deciding red, green and orange zones of COVID-19 intensity. The ministry of Home Affairs has issued a fresh guideline for the Lockdown 4.0.

2. The forest department from state Karnataka has started it's 'Operation to trap Tiger' to reduce the conflict situation around Bandipur and Chamarajanagar district from today.

3. The US President Donald Trump has honoured 10 years old girl Sravya Annapareddy who had sent personalised cards to healthcare workers across the United States during this pandemic situation.

4. General Atlantic, one of a leading American equity firm has agreed to invest ₹6598.38 crore in Jio Platforms Ltd for a 1.34% stake in the company.

5. One group of scientists from New Zealand have discovered the 'Super Earth', is one of the handful of planets that are of same size and orbiting distance as that of the earth.

6. Indian Army has launched a great initiative named 'ToD' i.e Tour of Duty to eradicate the unemployment generated during the lockdown period. This is three year internship for youth to work as officers and soldiers in the Indian Army.

7. Chhattisgarh will launch Rajiv Gandhi Kisan Nyay Yojana on 21 May on the commemoration of the death anniversary of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi. It aims to stimulate the rural economy in the state, amid the slowdown caused by by the COVID-19 pandemic.

8. India along with other 61 countries in the World Health Organisation (WHO) has joined to identify the source of COVID-19. The resolution is important as the bigger economies specially China and US are politicizing the origin of the virus.

9. The severe cyclonic storm 'Amphan' in the Bay of Bengal has intensified and will probably cross West Bengal - Bangladesh cost on 20th May. Indian Meteorological Department has informed that it has winds at the rate of 90-117 kmph. 

10. World Telecommunication Day was celebrated on 17th May. The focus on this year’s agenda of commemorating the day for global connectivity with the help of information technology.
